Do you skip a heartbeat, every time you see a Supercar on road? Have you wondered what goes behind creating a dream machine like that? The business of creating mean machines that rule the road, is more or less a dream job for most of us. Right from penning down the design on the drawing board, to building a concept and finally, creating the finished product – the journey of manufacturing a car is laced with creativity, passion and a zeal for innovation.
On that note, let’s take the pleasure of introducing you to a new automotive start-up, Mean Metal Motors- which is working on India’s first supercar. Yes! You heard us right, our first ever supercar!
Taking a skip from the usual makers of Supercars, all eyes are set on India to deliver this “Mean Machine.” Of course, if the Polish, Germans and British can make it, why not us?
Known as the M-Zero, four teams from four countries are working on turning this design dream to reality. While, the team in Portugal and Italy is taking care of the styling and body, the team in UK is looking after the simulations and analysis. Additionally, the responsibility for breeding life to the car, i.e. engine, transmission, aerodynamics, vehicle dynamics and electronics has been taken care by the team in India.
The M-Zero has a light-weight carbon-fiber monologue tub chassis, which is intended at providing rigidity to the vehicle. Though, the chassis will be designed by the members at Mean Metal Motors, it will be given to various part manufacturers for production.
The “M-Zero is a hybrid mid-engined supercar, loaded with a 4.0-litre AMG V8 bi-turbo or the 4.8-litre NA V10 engine. The founder and director of “Mean Metal Motors” emphasized on the fact that they were targeting the 500+ bhp mark for the power output.
With features such as the usage of special alloys for better adaptability of shapes, structure and a turbulizer that will reduce the aerodynamic drag; this “Mean Machine” will be an eye candy for sure.
This grand project is intended at raising $7 million in the first round of funding. However, sadly, the manufacturing facility will not be in India but in a Scandinavian country. And, the market they are targeting, is Europe.
