The concept of Net Neutrality revolves around the principle that internet service providers and governments should treat all kinds of data on the World Wide Web equally. This means, there shouldn’t be any discrimination or charging differentially by user, content, site, platform, application, type of attached equipment and even mode of communication.
Being neutral is the only way one can still stay connected with reality. With a neutral attitude, we can remain fair, unbiased and balanced. Thus, with the emergence of the concept of net neutrality, imagining life without it would only lead to chaos. This means the latest news on mobile that we come across is not vetted or influenced based on any discrimination and is information in its purest form. The basic intention with net neutrality is that it will act as a public tool. Thus, nobody except the reader has the right to choose what they want to consume and what they don’t. In simple words, it only means avoiding colonization of the virtual world.
Many frequent bloggers and personalities have commented on this concern. Harsha Bhogle took to the micro-blogging site saying, “The internet is a symbol of an equal opportunity society. It has levelled the world. It has to stay free & open” Gul Panag also recently tweeted, “Our socio economic divide may not be bridged easily. But the digital divide, to a large extent, is being bridged- IFF #NetNeutrality remains”
From famous celebs to a common man, everyone is rising above the chaining of the Internet and bringing the revolution of Net Neutrality.
